Why I use a sketch book (video)
The contents of a sketchbook are as personal and unique as its owner. As an abstract painter, I use my sketchbook to record ideas and work out compositions and colour combinations in pastels and graphite. Making preparatory drawings on a small scale can be a good way to test out which ideas might translate to a larger scale - but not all make it to becoming a painting on canvas.
I believe that everyone is creative -even those of us who think we’re not. It’s not hard to access our creativity, but it is work. Since leaving corporate America to become an artist, I have embarked upon a journey of self-discovery, encountering frustration, challenges, fulfilment and joy. Discovering my inner artist and a desire to express herself in colour and paint was a radical turning point -one that has led me to shine a light on the path for others.
