Why I use a sketch book (video)
The contents of a sketchbook are as personal and unique as its owner. As an abstract painter, I use my sketchbook to record ideas and work out compositions and colour combinations in pastels and graphite. Making preparatory drawings on a small scale can be a good way to test out which ideas might translate to a larger scale - but not all make it to becoming a painting on canvas.
Choosing the right art takes time and patience. But should you buy an existing painting from an artist or gallery or commission a painting?
