Inspired by the Greek island of Skopelos, this large abstract landscape painting can be viewed as a traditional landscape as well as an aerial landscape. I started this painting in Skopelos and completed it back in Cornwall and as such it’s really a painting from the inner mind, a compilation of sensations and experiences of living on a Greek island.

If you’ve been to the Greek islands, you may recognise the cut of the Venetian fortress against the blue sky, winding roads up and down steep hills with their multiple switchbacks; swollen river beds (flooded in winter and dried out in summer); narrow streets and pathways in the old town or ‘chora’; and the ever-present Mediterranean sea,
